Mike is an experienced conductor, of symphony orchestras (both professional and youth) and of wind bands. In 2010 he conducted students from the Las Palmas and Tenerife Conservatorios in the Canary Islands, who combined with professional musicians to give a concert of British music in Las Palmas. He was for many years Director of the Trinity College of Music Wind Orchestra (when Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion)  and has guest conducted with the Royal Scottish Academy Wind Orchestra. Mike has conducted the Trinity College of Music and later Trinity Laban Sinfonia and recently conducted the National Children’s Orchestra (Under 12s) in Birmingham Town Hall. In June this year Mike was working with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Wind Orchestra.

Mike has also conducted on a number of occasions the Bands of the Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards,  Irish Guards, Welsh Guards, the Household Cavalry, the Royal Artillery Band and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. He is Director of Music of the City of London Military Band, a professional group recreating the sound and repertoire of the BBC Wireless Military Band.

Whilst at Bromley, Mike frequently conducted the award winning Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra and Bromley Youth Concert Band.
